CamMicGo SEO MCP
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Scientific publications in your assistant

CamMicGo groups five open sources in one connector. Everything works without any key; adding your own free keys simply gives you higher, personal limits. Google Scholar has no official API, so it is not used.

⭐ Recommended: each user creates their own free keys (OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, NCBI) to get a personal quota instead of the shared one. arXiv and HAL stay free for everyone.

OpenAlex

≈ 250 million works of every discipline, with citations and open-access links.

Get your key

  1. Create a free account on openalex.org.
  2. Open Settings › API (openalex.org/settings/api) and copy your key.
  3. Paste it in OpenAlex on your CamMicGo account.

Semantic Scholar (Ai2)

Ai2’s research graph: citations, influential citations and one-sentence TL;DR summaries.

Get your key

  1. Fill in the request form on semanticscholar.org/product/api (name, email, use: “personal research assistant through an MCP connector”).
  2. The key arrives by email. Approval is manual and can take several days; it is not guaranteed.
  3. Paste it in Semantic Scholar on your CamMicGo account. Until then, CamMicGo uses the shared public pool.

PubMed (NCBI)

Biomedical and health literature (MEDLINE), with links to free full texts on PubMed Central.

Get your key

  1. Sign in or create a free account on account.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov.
  2. In Account settings › API Key Management (direct link), click Create an API Key and copy it.
  3. Paste it in PubMed (NCBI) on your CamMicGo account.

No key needed

Local MCP (Gemini CLI, Cursor, Claude Code…)

The local server has the same science tools and does not need Google sign-in. Put your keys in the .env.local file of your CamMicGo folder; they never leave your computer. Then check with npm run local:doctor.

Why not Google Scholar? Google offers no API for Scholar and blocks automated access; tools that claim to use it copy its pages, which breaks Google’s terms. The sources above are official, open APIs.
